Any honest and professional dentists in Chicago?

Main Post:

Can anyone help me out please? Any good dentist out there? I've had dentists who alter their schedule a day before my appointment causing me to have to change my appointment date. Then there's dentists that say I have cavities that I clearly don't have or they see I have cavities and tell me I don't. Also, don't get me started with the trying to scam me by adding in the charge of them drilling two surfaces when the cavity is only on one surface... Food traps created by incorrect manner of filling the teeth is infuriating as well considering the additional time and money needed to be wasted.

Dentist recommendations?

Main Post:

Hey folks,

Been living in Chicago for a year now and my teeth hurt. Any recommendations?

edit: Have insurance, I live Uptown but work in Pilsen so I’ve got a bit of range.

Top Comment: I do NOT recommend downtown dental river north. They attempted to charge me over $600 THREE YEARS after my visit, claiming my insurance was no good. It took several months of contacting my old insurance and them hassling me to finally get it cleared up. They were wrong, and when they finally realized it they didn’t even apologize.

Dentist in Chicago city recommendations?

Main Post:

Hi all! New to the city in the past year. I had a one molars chip recently and recently went to a dentist recommended by a family member, but said dentist is making some whole treatment plan for me including cavities, a crown for the molar and such. I haven't had the time to go to the dentist since I've moved here (a ton of work travelling).

I'm not 100% comfortable with this dentist, and I was wondering if anyone had a dentist that they loved that was very honest and upfront, understanding. Preferably along a train line since I don't own a car. I have MetLife for dental insurance!!

Top Comment: I always had a great experience with Miswak! I have a ton of Dental TraumaTM️ and they were so gentle and kind

Need honest dentist north of downtown!

Main Post:

Hello! Just as a preface: I don't trust dentists. I've moved a lot, so I've seen many. About 90% of the ones I've had have tried to upsell me on ridiculous procedures, claimed there were cavities where there weren't any, and have generally ruined my teeth with bad root canals/crowns/etc that I then had to have redone.

That's the boat I'm in now. Crown came off, went to a dentist who recemented it, but also said "you need an implant." Seemed like a decent guy, but I just don't trust dentists at all. So now I'm starting the second-opinion train, which often takes 3-5 appointments at various places before I can cobble together a picture of what's actually happening in my mouth.

Anyone have a good, honest dentist? I appreciate all recs, especially those that provide reasons why their dentist is trustworthy. Thank you!

Judge free Dentists in Chicago?

Main Post:

I have severe dental anxiety and I have not been to a dentist since I was 18 (I am 25 now). I’m looking for dentist recommendations in Andersonville/Ravenswood area ideally but open to any Chicago recs! I would prefer a female but really any dentist that won’t make me feel awful about myself and any potential problems I have. So, any judge free dentists in Chicago you would recommend?

Top Comment: I cannot recommend Northside Dental enough! Located in Andersonville, this is BY FAR the best dentist I’ve been to. They are non judgmental, kind office staff, gentle hygienists and seriously the coolest dentists. My insurance recently changed and they are no longer in network but I refuse to leave. They are terrific.

Looking for dentist recs in lakeview/Lincoln park area??

Main Post:

It’s kind of like ... urgent I have an extremely bad toothache and my old dentist in California before I moved said I HAD to have it filled soon before I need a root canal. But I’m just so nervous going to the dentist unless the person is very sweet and non judgemental I get really really scared ..... I’m willing to like drive a bit far to find someone who does emergency apts and is good with nervous patients. I already tried white and rooted dental which I heard good things about and they were booked until august lmao so yeah XXXX 💖💖

Top Comment: Sky Dental - Dr. Ali and staff are wonderful. I had started going when my teeth were in really bad shape and finally had insurance. No one was judgemental at all and Dr. Ali is very encouraging. Close to the Belmont Red Line and there is also patient parking behind Ann Sathers. EDIT: He is very good and keeping the scares and pain away. Made the mistake of having my bf drive me once, who filled my head with fear about a deep cleaning. I was visibly terrified in the chair and told Dr. Ali what was said. He went out into the waiting room and was all "HEY! Why did you say that? Don't scare my patient! That isn't how a deep cleaning is!" and it was probably the most pain-free experience I've had. Can't recommend him enough.

Dentist Recommendations?

Main Post:

Hello! Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, compassionate dentist? I am highly anxious about any dentist so I’d love to see someone who is able to help me relax at least a little bit while I’m there. I tried to set up an appointment with West Suburban Oral Health Care but their earliest appointment is the at the end of August. I greatly appreciate your help!

Top Comment: Murmann Dental Health. They are awesome and Dr Murmann is very kind and gentle.

Actual Dentist (NW burbs) Recommendations

Main Post:

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good dentist in the North West suburbs that isn't selling Botox, boob jobs, and other cosmetic crap in their office? I moved here from another state and have been to three dentists none of whom treat their patients with good bedside manner and all of whom offer "additional services" that seem like greedy and unrelated-to-your-dental-health upsells. All I want is a dentist who focuses on dentistry only, and is good at it.

Top Comment: We liked Dr. Podlek in Bartlett before he moved to Barrington. Hopefully he's not doing botox or boobs now... I mean, when I think of Barrington...lol. I think that place is ripe for that batch of services. Don't hate me Barrington. You know it's true.
